This type of massage uses long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the muscle layers, combined with active and passive movements of the joints. The massage may be soothing or more vigorous depending on the client's needs and wishes.
A Swedish massage can help to shorten recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. Swedish massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves. It reduces physical and emotional stress and is often utilized in stress management programs.
30 minutes or 60 minute treatments available
Hot Stone Massage:
60 min session
Hot Stone Massage uses warmed basalt stones, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well. The hot stones are used as part of a body massage, to help relieve muscular aches and pains also induce relaxation.
One stroke with a warm basalt stone is the equivalent of 5-10 with the hand, as the heat penetrates deeper into the tissue, releasing tight muscles quicker.
During the session smooth, flat and heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body to help you relax, relieve muscle tension and damaged soft tissues throughout your body.
60 min session £50
The Bamboo Massage is less commonly known than Swedish or Hot Stone Massage, but is also classed as Deeper Massage with greater benefits.
Bamboo massage therapy is essentially the same as deep tissue massage or Swedish massage. However, rather than the therapist simply using their hands to warm the muscles and reduce pain in the ligaments and joints, the therapist uses a roll of heated bamboo.
The bamboo is kneaded into the tissue just as the therapist would use their fingers. Yet the bamboo allows the therapist to knead deeper and firmer than they would be able to with only their hands. The length and width of the bamboo used can change depending on the detail necessary for accurate gliding strokes.
